ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATIONS OF GI SHEETS

GI sheets means galvanizing iron sheets. Galvanizing is a process by which iron is made rust free. In galvanizing process the zinc coating is done on the iron or steel to make it rust free. So, GI sheets are stainless steel sheets galvanized with   zinc. GI sheets also include hot dip and electro galvanized steel sheets. Besides protecting the steel from rust and corrosion, the zinc also keeps the initial strength of the steel intact for long time. The other minor function of the zinc is to give polished finish to the sheets.

GI sheets find uses in every sector of the economy. They are used in agriculture as grain silos, feeding troughs, sprayers and pans. In construction activities, GI sheets find wide use as roof sheets, walls, panels, covers, rolling shutters, highway bombers, partition walls, and painted coated products. Lots of household items are made with GI sheets. The items made with GI sheets range from small tubs and water buckets to washing machines and pipes and other fitting where water is constantly used.

It also finds use in manufacturing of electrical appliances, air conditioners, electrical panels and decorative items. Furniture items like almirah, certain chairs and sofa sets, racks are completely made with these sheets. The lockers for solid protection are solely made with GI sheets. Other uses of GI sheets are in manufacturing of railway coaches, containers for shipping companies, thermal cladding, ducting drums, sign boards, hoardings and road signs etc.

GI sheets have many advantages, which explain their wide use. The zinc coating is less expensive GI Sheet Dealers in Delhi than other coating for the steel and it has longer life in every sitting and environment. The GI sheets can also be used in coastal environment where the rate of corrosion in higher than other weather areas. The maintenance is low and almost cost nothing over the long period.  The GI coating has unique metallurgical structure and gives protection against any abrasion, or mechanical damage that may occur during transportation, erection and service .Galvanized coating provides automatic protection to the any damaged area of the sheet. In other coatings, the damaged areas needs patch up but that is not the case with GI sheets.
